Alaska 2016 | Day 55 | Juneau to Tracy Arm Cove

My twin brother arrived last night and my mom arrived this morning. After shopping and a bit of touring around Juneau, we set off for Tracy Arm Cove.

This is now my fourth trip to Tracy Arm/Endicott Arm/Ford’s Terror this summer. Visitors to Alaska seem to want to see bears, whales, and tidewater glaciers. In a four or five night trip, starting and ending in Juneau, this is the place to come. It’s been fun really getting to know the area and see it in different weather, but I’ll be ready to move on in a few days…

The trip down to Tracy Arm Cove was hot! Think 70s and sunny. No wind. The current pushed us along for most of the day, which made the trip an hour quicker than last time.

Tracy Arm Cove was pretty full when we arrived around 8:00 p.m. I counted 12 boats, the most I’d ever seen. Still, there was ample room for us to anchor and not feel crowded.

An hour later, the light changed a bit
No wildlife today. Tomorrow we’ll head up Endicott Arm to Dawes Glacier, then overnight at Ford’s Terror.
