Arriving in port unleashes a whirlwind: fueling, oil changes, boat maintenance and repair, grocery shopping, laundry, guests arriving and departing. This visit to Juneau was no exception. My list of projects included:
- Fueling the boat (129.1 gallons of diesel, 6.5 gallons of gas for the dinghy)
- Changing generator oil
- Moving power switch for watermaker from the engine room to underneath the galley sink (watermaker is AWESOME by the way)
- Several loads of laundry...clothing, bedding, towels, etc.
- Cleaning the boat, inside and out
- Send Anna home (but she'll be back next month!)
- Pick up dad, stepmom, and their two kids
Of course, there was ample time for fun, too. Boating up here is a small world, and I spent time catching up with friends I've met over the years who happen to be in town.

Eagle Beach, north of Juneau, for a picnic dinner. |
I also spent some one-on-one time with flotilla participants helping to plan their return trips. Watching the flotilla boats depart was bittersweet: sad to see new friends go, but excited for them to continue their adventure. I'm sure our paths will cross again.
